NaturaLawn of America recently received some great press in the May 2013 issue
of Turf magazine. Ron Hall, Turf magazine editor-in-chief, interviewed NaturaLawn
of America for their three-part series on franchising.
“NaturaLawn of America, based in Frederick, MD, is the best known and most established company in organic-based/ biological lawn care. The franchise
company, which also sells organic products, has 65 service locations in 23 states. Founded in 1987, it’s not too much of a stretch to label NLA as the pioneer of that segment of the lawn care market."
Phil Catron Speaks at the 2013
International Bio-Pesticides Conference
Phil Catron, President and Founder of NaturaLawn of America, Inc., continued to spread his agronomic knowledge at the International Bio-Pesticides Conference this year, held recently in Ottawa, Canada.
Twenty-five years ago, Phil Catron made it his mission to raise the bar for safety standards in lawn care. NaturaLawn of America broke new ground in 1987 with its environmentally responsible approach. Many said the organic, natural, “green thing” would be a passing fad, believing chemicals were necessary for beautiful, weed-free and pest-free lawns.
NaturaLawn of America stuck to its core belief. Family safety was first, and the natural, organic approach was not only here to stay, but the right thing to do.
In Ottawa, Catron discussed the business growth barriers in an organic-based operation, which includes everything from keeping the product cost competitive to having highly trained and knowledgeable employees who can educate customers. Catron also conveyed the relationship between bio-pesticides and synthetics.
The group spoke of the need for increasing technology and research of safer products. Catron’s final parting words at the conference left the attendees with a look into the future of bio-pesticides: “You can’t build brand leaders of the future by using the tools and techniques of the past.”
